چکیده

Medical history, disease onset, clinical symptoms, and results of neuroimaging 14 glossopharyngeal schwannoma patients, who were examined treated in the Subtentorial Neurooncology Department State Institution, Romodanov Institute Neurosurgery NAMS Ukraine (8 patients) No. 2 Municipal Enterprise, Mechnikov Dnipropetrovsk Regional Clinical Hospital Council (6 2018 to 2021 have been analyzed details. The study inclusion criteria as follows: patient’s age over 18, presence unilateral primary nerve schwannoma. Our showed that most signs symptoms are associated with otolaryngological disorders (such hearing loss, tinnitus, hoarseness, or dizziness) cerebellar ataxia, nystagmus, dizziness). Neuroimaging cerebellopontine angle tumors diagnosis must include brain computed tomography (with mandatory assessment state jugular foramen internal auditory canal) IV contrast magnetic resonance high-resolution sequences, gradient echo (3D CISS, DRIVE, TRUFFI, B-FFE) aim better visualization differentiation various cranial nerves. demonstrates complexity a reliable preoperative when using standard diagnostic tools. Preoperative should be based on systematic approach comparison comprehensive instrumental examination studies.

Glossopharyngeal schwannoma in childhood.

Glossopharyngeal (that is, cranial nerve IX) schwannomas are extremely rare nerve sheath tumors that frequently mimic the more common vestibular schwannoma in their clinical as well as radiographic presentation. Although rare in adults, this tumor has not been reported in a child. The authors report the case of a 10-year-old boy who presented with several months of unilateral hearing loss. He w...

Huge dumbbell shaped glossopharyngeal schwannoma

Schwannomas arising from the 9th, 10th and 11th cranial nerves (also called jugular foramen schwannoma) without associated neurofibromatosis are relatively uncommon [1]. Schwannomas arising from the glossopharyngeal nerve are rare and fewer than 50 cases have been reported in the literature [1-4]. Glossopharyngeal schwannoma presenting in childhood is extremely rare and to our knowledge only 4 ...

To our knowledge, this is the first report of gagging dysphagia associated with a glossopharyngeal schwannoma.

Glossopharyngeal schwannoma: diagnostic and therapeutic aspects.

Among posterior fossa tumours, schwannomas arising from glossopharyngeal nerves are extremely rare, and only 39 cases of glossopharyngeal schwannomas have been described. The clinical and imaging features of glossopharyngeal schwannomas closely resemble that of acoustic schwannomas. Despite its accuracy, magnetic resonance imaging is not diagnostic of a ninth nerve schwannoma. This is because t...

Glossopharyngeal schwannoma causing vocal fold paralysis.

Vocal fold paralysis may occur for a wide range of reasons, from cardiac chamber enlargement, intoxication by chemical products, and mediastinal, neck, lung and intracranial tumors. Given the vast array of possibilities and the various points where the vagus and recurrent laryngeal nerves (the latter is a branch of the first and innervates most laryngeal intrinsic muscles) may be injured, often...
